a Single Mechanism......

Bessler said that when he used one crossbar he was able to self rotate.  Not much power but it would continue.  After he put on another he was able to produce enough power to accomplish work.

Not sure how the formula for that works, but I have always felt that if you assign a percentage to the mechanism say 98 percent efficient that only meant that the more mechanisms that are attached the quicker that the wheel slows down.   That has been the case in so many of my replications.  So for a wheel to sustain, the mechanism must be capable of at least 100 % plus a little more            say 102%    to overcome the inherent drag on the mechanism and bearings.   If a single mechanism gives an additional SAY 2 percent, the 3 mechanism would provide an additional 6 percent.  So, the more mechanisms onboard, and provided they are timed properly, the more power available.

Given his words, the number of mechanisms has nothing to do with a self-sustaining wheel.

The more mechanisms, the more power available, that is why, I believe the reason the wheels kept getting thicker was because he was stacking more and more mechanism onto the wheels. 

He also said that the power available was a function of the diameter.   That seem pretty simple then, that the weights were on the perimeter of the wheel, if it was a wheel.    Or just a series of spokes that he covered with the cloth to hide the secret.

In his drawing, and are ye yet without understanding, it shows 3 mechanisms or 3 segments that produce power.   I think it would have more power with 5 or 7 or       15.   The complexity of getting it all produced, attached and timed is just a function of math and engineering.  So, for me, it is the functioning of the single mechanism that is the key.  The additional mechanisms just add power, but they do not depend on each other to just revolve.

You can prove it yourself.    Take a quart jar and fill it with water         drop it on your foot

Move outside and do the same thing, move to another place, it will happen again and again
does not mater whether you believe or not it just is one to those events that happens

Bessler left clues that were self explanatory    a shotgun shoots, raindrops fall etc

A natural event that goes unnoticed by most he called out as the secret

Standing in a Different Position in the room

I would ask my kids to help me problem solve sometimes.  I would ask them for 4 different solutions to a problem, and I would use the upper corners of the room as examples. What do you see if you were sitting up in this corner, or that corner.  Which idea would be the best solution?   From a different position or a point of viewing, sometimes, we can see a different solution.

I love to read the clues that Bessler left for us to figure out, how he found the solution.  One of the many websites talking about his work recently listed 300 clues in reference to the 300 year anniversary.  One of the clues pointed to many pieces of lead that were used.  Well, it seemed pretty obvious a number of pieces of lead, which is very heavy, would help to find the solution.  So, it was so obvious how that large pieces of lead were used.   I could envision him melting down lead to cast these larger pieces.  Pouring it into a form and getting the exact shape of the mold, BUT what if the many pieces of lead were pointing to lead shot.  By the time Bessler came along, a shotgun using lead shot was a common part of the process of hunting, or larger shot being placed in the canisters that were being shot out of cannons.  We also have hammers that are filled with shot or steel BB's that are called Dead Blow hammers that reduce the bounce back of the primary weight.  

Another one of the clues pointed to a more or less of a gentle thud, rather than that of a large impact on the descending side of the wheel. It fits quite well, that it could be many separate pieces of lead such as lead shot.  It the lead shot was put inside an area, in such a way that he could add more shot as required to bring everything into the perfect condition that he was seeking.   If the condition was a balanced condition the addition of just a few of the small shot pieces would bring in the addition weight required, very easily and precisely.  A balanced wheel is one does not stop in the same place,  but is just coming to a stop where the friction of the bearings stops the rotation.  The balanced wheel is a great place to start to think about how a balanced wheel can be encouraged to rotate.  The weight of a single washer at the 3 o'clock position can easily move the wheel.  If there was a way to add the weight of a single washer and make it disappear from the wheel and re-appear again, but since we can't make the weight disappear we have to just dream of how we could make that happen, but for now there is still much to tell

The year of 2017 will be the year that our planet can start to breathe a breath of of fresh air.

2017

The great anticipation of this year has been on my mind a great deal lately and as I review my knowledge acquired over the 100 + attempts so far.  I look at some of his statements

Bessler stated that the diameter of the wheel determined the power that it generated.  There can only be one reason for that, and that is     whatever weight that in the power generating position was as far from the axle as possible.   There is no other logical explanation.  The force of gravity, working on a specific mass is converted into a force of greater power the longer the moment arm.   The same would be true of the non-power generating position.  The farther from the axle, the more energy that would required to lift it.

While some principles, such as the word gravity, were not the language at the time, Bessler knew that it was the inherent force of the mass itself that was the source of power.

We must learn to speak the language of the wheel.  It can be deceived, but the out of balance condition is the only logical reason for it to turn

Creatures of Habit

When we first start our work with creating the magical device, it sure seems obvious how simple this is to do.....  Falling arms,  levers strings and weighted parts fill our minds with the same path, that I am sure many have followed, including Bessler himself.   The natural progressions of creative innovation, is not out of the ordinary skill sets of most tinkerers and home brewed craftsmen.  It seems that Bessler would have had such an incredible set of hands and skills that I am still in awe of his prowess, but to be able to build a watch by hand still escapes my comprehension.  I am pretty good with my hands, and have built a business from the skills that my father taught me, in our back shop area where I first picked up a chisel and hammer as we carved a half of an oak log into a soap box derby.  He instilled in me a great appreciation for hand tools and the eyes of a master craftsman.  Dad was a watch maker by trade and his love and appreciation of machines and machinery helped to instill in me the time honored steps of paying the price and doing a good job.   If you don't take the time to do it right the first time you Will have time to do it over.

Bessler talked about how many times he tried and failed.   It reminded me of Thomas Edison and the 10,000 plus attempts that he made trying to figure out how to make a light bulb.  He stated that he never figured out how to make a successful light bulb, he just ran out of things that would not work.  If we can take his lead and not leave a single stone unturned in the garden of our imaginations, we will be successful.  However, it seems that this quest is not for the faint hearted or the person with limited time that can dedicated to the creation of a device that will convert a constant force, such as gravity, into a rotary motion.

There is a line in my favorite song about  having mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice...  and that single look into the human experience       We are all just prisoners here, of our own device.

Normal thinking cannot complete this task.  A systematic attack must be administered with careful notes and drawings.  We must find out what will not work and look for that activity the reveals itself and having a positive action.  Always looking to his words, and works

Bessler was able to uncover this phenomenon      but was not able to find a path to share it with us

So           here we are          visionaries,       dreamers,      and doers.         DOERS.......Makers

Those of us who would risk that fragile pivot of artistic expression,   EGO        to move past the Fear of being ridiculed       for the benefits that are behind the veil........

We must never look back or question our goal        A better place to live for us all

Sawdust       shavings of metal      mixed with our sweat     and sometimes our own blood are the basis of the DNA of this new discovery          I am committed to success and I ask God to bless my hands with his divine guidance

The blog season is alive and well, and there is much spirited banter back and forth regarding the most simple of ideas.

A wheel in balance          cannot turn            unless some force is added

I have sat at the edge of my 8 ft wheel and with the twitch of my finger been able to maintain the rotation..... not much input, just a little

the larger wheel, the more power, if the wheel "sees" the excess weight in the right place at the right time
